What is the name of your state? California.

I have heard that in some states, the state excludes one's personal home for sole propietors.

I do not believe this. My understanding, and it's this simple, if you set up as a sole propietor, all of your assets are exposed including the home, no exceptions. Whether you're in Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Alaska, or Hawaii, or wherever...
