What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana
We are in the process of filing for non-profit. I was in the process of filing for 501c status and was confused on which one to file.
Our organization will be a "club" with members. By members I am talking about individuals from around the country buying a membership. We also have a board of directors and officers. This organization will be hosting contest all over the country for fund raising and promotion of the mission of the organization. We will accept donations to the organization. There will be additional fund raisers. We also plan on getting involved in using this organization as a platform for defending political rights. And there will be products sold by the organization.
While researching the 501(c), I found that the (c)(7) status is geared towards clubs. But I also read somewhere that there are a lot of limitations with the (c)(7). I was thinking of going ahead and filing for (c)(3) but wasn't sure how to categorize this organization. I need a little help getting pointed in the right direction.
Thank You
Matt
