I am hoping to open a business in the next few months. Presently I am married but I plan to file for divorce any minute now. It has been suggested to me that once I file (I am doing this w/o benefit of an attorney as there is very little property involved) and state that "From this point forward expenses and income earned/incurred by both plaintiff & defendant are their sole responsibility" my spouse will not be legally entitled to any profit my business venture earns. Is this correct? How might I proceed so that I do not have to worry that my soon to be ex will not come in and make a business mess for me to deal with?
