What is the name of your state? Washington

My sister and I want to start a company designing and selling quilt patterns. I live in Washington and she lives in Oregon. I've been reading a lot of information regarding starting a business and some things are a bit confusing to me. I would like to know if I were to start a business as sole proprietor to open a business checking account, would it be difficult to change things later into a partnership? Or would a LLC be the way to go at that time? Right now we are still in the designing process to develope a decent line of patterns.

Any input would be appreciated.

If you can afford it, you should "start off right" by NOT forming a sole proprietorship or a general partnership (2 sole proprietors together). Of course you can "convert" later but it's a hassle.
