What is the name of your state? ky

Not sure if this is the right place to post or not, but here it goes.

We have a small construction business along with sub-contracting to larger contractors.
We have preformed work for one particular company for several years.

Last January, the workers comp insurance put a freeze on are policy. They informed the company we were doing business with, but failed to inform us. Same with the construction company we were working for, no notification to us.

Mean while from jan till now we have done several thousand,s of dollars worth of work.

We finished our audit 2 weeks ago, wrote a check out on the spot to the insurance agent (third party) who by the way never informed us of a freeze either. They told my wife there would be no lapse in our policy.

Now the larger company refuses to pay us a large amount of money for work preformed.

The main audit person tells my wife today, they dont have to inform us of freeze or cancillation.

Had we known about this situation, we sure would have not sent workers out onto the jobs untill it was taken care of.

Just curious if this is standard practice or conspiracy to screw people.

Im sure there is quite a bit of info not listed, but can answer any questions to get to the bottom of this.

We knew of our policy was having to be renewed in Jan. Our agent took our money and sent it to workmans comp. All we knew was it was paid.

Oh, forgot to add, they sent a certificate 3 weeks ago to the city. So is it cancelled or not?
