1031 exchangeWhat is the name of your state? Illinois / Arizona I live in IL. and have a rental property in AZ (Property #1). I am selling the rental property in AZ. (Property #1) I have owned for 3 years and l am looking at doing a 1031 exchange with a new property(Property #2). As I understand the law, I must 'identify' a property within 45 days of the closing date on Property #1 and within 180 days be closed on Property #2. Looking for clarification on the 180 day rule. What is the ruling if my identified property is 'new construction' and building begins within the 180 day window, but completion on the property falls outside the 180 day window? Thanks |

| If you want to do a 1031 exchange, you will need to hire a 1031 exchange facilitator. There are way too many nitpicky details for you to attempt this on your own.
