I am living in Pennsylvania.
I got married in Nov 2003 in India.
I came back to US in Feb 2004 with H1 status.
My wife was in India till 31 Dec 2003.
She came back to US in May 2004 with H4 status.
I had already filed taxes for 2003 as Single Status.

Question:
1. Can I file myself as married status for 2003 Federal taxes?
2. Will I be able to claim for additional refund by adding my wife as my spouse in 2003 Federal taxes?

You must amend your return, as you were not single. You can file married separate, or married joint if your wife elects to be taxed as a US citizen. If you have a child, you may qualify to file as head of household. Seek professional help with amending & adding a nonresident alien spouse. Many twists & turns & opportunities for strategic tax planning ahead!

2003 Federal Tax for my wife

For my case some questions;
1. Can I file 2003 amend Federal tax return even if my wife didn't stay in US for whole year? Remember my wife came to US in May 2004.
2. What status I should use to file 2003 amend tax return?
3. Which forms should I use to file 2003 return?
4. Where can I get help for this, if I have to do it myself?
