Back Taxes!

What is the name of your state?California

I have not filed taxes in over 10 years! I have never made alot of money, so I probably would have goten tax returns. I just got scared the first year I missed filing, and never filed again. I want to fix this and other credit problems from my youth. I live pay check to pay check, so very little funds for leagal help. also I have very little paper work/W2's from the past 10 years. How should I begin?

That's what I'm saying. I posted a reply and it did not appear. There must be a glitch in the software program or something.

You can visit the local IRS office & request a printout of your W-2s from past years. If you owe taxes for previous years, you have to pay them. You can only get refunds from 2000-2003. However, the fact that Uncle Sam has not sent you a letter asking you to file probably means you would have gotten refunds if you'd filed. You also need to file CA returns. The CA tax board is far, far nastier than the IRS, so make sure you pay them any money owed.

If you were self-employed, you'll owe money & can work out payment plans with the IRS & the CA FTB.
