barter exchange question

craigslist.org (a popular free online marketplace) is now offering barter trades. If a website like craigslist is not involved in the barter transaction and is only a forum to bring the two parties together, would they be legally considered a barter exchange and be required to fill out 1099-B forms for all transactions?

You are incorrect. Craigslist is listing service. It is a free classified page. It is not an online market place, transactions do no take place on craigslist, they occur between private parties.

Craiglist is has no role in issuing tax docs. Tax obligations belong to the traders, which Craigslist is not a party to.
