CA - Taxes Owed Since 2003

What is the name of your state? I live in California. I have not paid my income taxes since 2003; therefore, I owe taxes for five years. I do not personally owe any private property besides my car (which is paid off); however, I have a wife who owns the house that we live in. I have talked to IRS several times and filed various extensions; nonetheless, I did not meet any of the deadlines and still have not paid off my taxes. I understand that the following question is quite open ended; however, I'm quite new at this and I'm trying to figure out the situation. What can the IRS do in my situation? Furthermore, what has the IRS previously done in situations similar to mine? Please don't hesitate to ask me if you need any more details.

First step, go to a tax professional to get the returns prepared (not filed, just prepared). Find out what your actual liability is before interest and penalties.

Then come back and talk to us. Our advice is going to vary, based on your actual liability.

The IRS is nice, comparatively. The California Franchise Tax board is going to hang you out to dry. I suspect you would have had refunds coming, or you would have heard from the FTB years ago.
