| Yes, there are statutes on some taxes in some places. Federally, there is a statute of limitations of three years on a FILED tax return. There is a 10 year statute on collections, again federal, 10 years from date of filing or assessment. In CA, there is no statute on an unfiled return, there is, I believe, a 5 or 7 year statute on a FILED return, and I don't know the statute on collections. We can't really answer your question unless you are more specific, ie did you file? If so, how long ago? Is CA trying to collect from you? Snipes
