Can I deduct legal fees for an annulment? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MI I obtained a legal annulment during 2008. The legal fees were astronimical, but worth it in the end. The judge found that my marriage was fraudulent in the incept, as my husband was only interested in obtaining a green card, and planned to have two wives. Can I deduct the legal fees, that I have paid so far, on my 2008 taxes? Can I go back and deduct legal fees from 2007 as well? (it was a very long process) |

| That would be a great question for your tax professional. However, I don't think so.

| No. Not unless you entered the marriage to make a profit, and then you'd be in trouble with the immigration service anyway.
