What is the name of your state? Illinois
We are seperated parents, I will be moving in Chicago, she will be staying in Canada.
She is Canadian citizen and the custodial parent (child (also canadian citizen) is staying
about 70-80% of the time with her, the rest with me). I am paying and will continue to
pay child support.
Can the mother in Canada sign a form 8332 (release of claim to exemption for child
of divorced or seperated parents), so I, as the non-custodial parent, can claim my
child as a dependent in the US? This should be possible (?) because she is obviously
not claiming our child as a dependent in the US.
Or, does her not living in the US (or being a US citizen) would make form 8332 not
applicable?
