My husband and I built a home on our land. The house was completed and we moved into it Sept. 04, but we signed the contract and started the process to build in December 03. We are about to sell the house this month and will have a profit due to the sale. How does this effect capital gains taxes? We sold our previouse house in March of 04. Also, how can you estimate what may be owed to the IRS.
