I belong to a grassroot committee that has been raising funds to build a park in our community. The city allowed us to use their tax ID number for our account. Our committee will soon become a non-profit corporation in order to umbrella under another non-profit groups tax exempt number. Since we started out with the cities tax ID number, will we still be able to close that account and deposit that money into the new tax exempt acct. Our goals as a committee remains the same. Please note that the two signatures on the account are of committee members, a city officials signature is not present.
