claiming a dependent

What is the name of your state? Rhode Island

My childs mother and I are not together, not married, however I provide more than 50% of the cost to provide for my child. She resides in Massachusetts, I live in Rhode Island. Can I claim him at the end of the year as a dependent?

If he lives with you, yes. If not, you can only claim him if his mother signs a Form 8332.
