Claiming a dependentWhat is the name of your state? Minnesota I'm 22 and I've been living with my parents, who have been claiming my 3 year old daughter as a dependent on taxes so they could put her on their insurance. My boyfriend of two years and I are closing on a house in september, he is not the biological father, but we're wondering if he can claim her as a dependent? Obviously my parents wouldn't be anymore, and she has no contact with her biological father. |

| The only way he could claim her is if you get married, or he adopts her, or if he goes to court & has her "placed" in his home as a fosterchild (which gives him certain parental/guardian rights). BTW, your parents will be able to claim her (& you if you're a student) for 2007 as well, since she has already lived with them for over 6 months. You should coordinate your 2007 return with them to get the most money.
