| i live in texas. i was divorced in 2000. my son lives in another state. he is single and age 23. i have the legal right to claim him as a dependent ( supported him during school in 2000 ). he also claimed himself on his income taxes. me ex-wife did his taxes and was trying to screw me on this one. what can i do legally ? i asked my son to fill out a 1040x form to change his dependency from 1 to 0. he refused to do so. rjmgoose |

| Your son doesn't need to change anything. He's entitled to a Personal Exemption , irrespective of whether he's claimed as a Dependant on your Return. |
