What is the name of your state? Texas, harris co.
I have recently heard of divorced tax payers, who have two or more kids, with each claiming a child on their taxes.
for instance: A non custodial parent has 2 kids that live with custodial parent, and the non custodial parent could cliam one and the custodial parent claims the other.
Can this be done in Texas, (in both Montgomery and Harris counties) and how do you request permission to do so.
Would one go thru the att. gen child support office?
If not then how could one go about it.

For divorced parents, the dependency exemption goes to the parent with physical custody unless the child support order or divorce decree states that the NC parent gets to claim one or both kids. Many judges make the NC parent claiming the kids contingent in the NC parent's child support being paid in full on 12/31.

If you can't get the custodial parent to agree to let you claim a kid, you'll have to go to court & ask a judge to force him/her to let you.
