Cost Basis Records For InvestmentsWhat is the name of your state? NC I run into this from time to time. Will the IRS accept personal records as cost basis for stocks, bonds, and mutual funds? For example, if someone kept track of all purchases and dividends reinvested (dates, shares, amounts), but for some reason does not have the original confirmations or annual statements, will the IRS allow this as proof of cost basis? |

| Probably, especially if you also have a copy of the prices the stocks were trading at the day you purchased them.
