What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado

Hi, not sure I am in the right place but I was wanting to ask a question.

If one of two people on a joint tax return gave consent to a debt collector to view a joint tax return, is that binding? Shouldn't BOTH parties on the tax return have to give consent?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ideally one should not let another see a joint tax return unless both parties agree. However, realistically since there is no law against sharing a joint tax return with someone else without both party's consent, there is no way to guarantee that it will not happen.
