Deducting Mortgage InterestI own a house with someone I'm not related to, both of our names are on the deed and the mortgage. Is it alright if just one of us deducts all of the mortgage interest so the other can still claim the standard deduction? I live in Kansas. |

| That would be OK if the one who deducted the mortgage interest actually made all the mortgage payments. A person may only deduct amounts that s/he paid. |
