Question

Do I Have To Use My Real Name?

What is the name of your state? TX

Sorry if this is a re-post. I couldn't tell if my first post got
posted so I am posting it again.

My sole proprietorship company hires out people to do services.
(labor only - no hardware).

I don't want the people I hire to know my real name. I just
want them to know the company name. This may sound a
little odd, but it is because of the highly competative nature
of my business.

When I pay my hired labor, my checks have my company name
on them. But I'm required to send them a 1099 form, right?
And when I do that I'll be required to put my own name on
the form, right?

help - and thanks in advance!

It really would simplify your life to get an employer identification number for the future. Have you registered your business name with the state?

He could get an employer identification number in about two minutes at irs.gov, and would still be able to use it this year for the 1099's.
