Here is my situation

Didn't work in 2006
Sold $522 worth of stock
Recevied $35 of interest from B of A
Received $52 of interest from Fed Tax last year

Do I need to file?

Yes, I am 100% sure, and no, you don't need to send the IRS anything. I have been a tax professional for more than 20 years.

Your potential income is so low that there is no chance that you would be liable for state taxes either.

You absolutely do NOT need to file.
