Hi. I recently donated a $5000 gift to my mother-in-law to help with her finances. Is this able to be deducted on my 2004 federal return and/or my New York State return? If so, are there limits to the amount I can claim? Are any special forms required? Will my mother-in-law have to declare the gift? Thanks for any help!
