Earned Income CreditWhat is the name of your state? Michigan My fiance and I are married now, but we werent at the end of 2004 although we have lived together for 2 1/2 years prior and he has completely supported me and my 3 children , whos father is in prison, so why cant he claim the EIC? |

| Because they are not related to him, nor were they placed by an agency. He can claim them as dependents, but he can't get EIC for them. Snipes

| Does it matter that he had power of attorney of them? That seems wrong that they call him dad, he supports them 110% as well as myself, that he cant claim them for an EIC....Hes cared for them more then their own father ever has..theres not something we can do? I guess this law just seems screwy.. |
