What is the name of your state?GA

My wife had worked for an employer in December of 2004 that paid her cash and of course did not take out any taxes or social security. Does she need to make an estimated payment to the IRS in January? We are quite certain that we will have a refund coming back from our taxes this year?. I was of the impression that you only had to make estimated payments if you expected to owe the IRS when you did your taxes

No payment necessary. You might want to look at form SS-8, to help determine whether wife was an employee or independent contractor. It inpacts the employment taxes she has to pay.
