Expense of last illness deductable?

What is the name of your state?Colorado

My brother passed away on March 27, 2005. I am the Executor/Personal Rep. of his estate. I am starting to receive some of the bills relating to his final hospitalization.

Are these amounts deductable on HIS personal tax return (the year up to his death date) or on the ESTATE tax return (the rest of the year after his death date)?

Do I base the deductions on date of SERVICE or date of BILLING?

I would think they would be deductable from HIS final tax return, but I'm not 100% sure.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
