Family member transferCalifornia: I am purchasing a home directly from my great-grandfather's revocable trust, of which my father in-law is the executor. California does not have a great-grandparent property tax exclusion, but they do have a grandparent to grandchild and a parent to child exclusion. Is there any way I can transfer the current tax base over when I purchase the property? |

| Check with the county & see if a tranfer to a grandchild & greatgrandchild as tneants in common would qualify for the transfer. Otherwise, check how long your dad has to hold the house before he can transfer it to you. How much saving are we talking about? Doesn't your county reassess every 4 years anyway? Mine does.
