Fire Loss (Multi or Single year)

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kentucky

A fire destroyed my home in Sep 08 and I claimed it on my 08 Taxes but most of the claim went above what was needed to reduce my tax to 0.

My fire loss was 202,000 and insurance repaid me 135,000.

My question is can a fire loss be claimed in following years or is it a 1 shot deal?

Thanks
