How to claim side job earnings?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
NJ
Hi!
I work for a contractor and besides my regular wage I have some side job income of $11000. Is it legitimate to make money without registering a business and how do I claim it to IRS?

You report the income and any expenses related to the income on Schedule C.
