What is the name of your state?oklahoma
about three years ago i was my girlfriend and i filed taxes together. instead of her being put on as a dependand, she was added as spouse. we have been split up now for about one year. we went to file this year and we were told that we needed to file together and could not file seperate. we have been told different things about our situation. my question is, are we considered legally married and will we need to get a divorce or will the fact that we are no longer together allow us to file seperate on the next years taxes?
