I Want My Money Back That The IRS Stole!

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia
I filed a joint tax return in 2001 with my ex husband.
I was 22 and had a full time job and he was a musician .... I was a taxed employee.
On the advice of the coked out accountant that Eric insisted we use , I filed jointly with him in 2001 not knowing any better not being advised on innocent spouse , not being properly advised he said that was best way for us yeah ERIC.
I didn't like it because i know I am now tied to someone who owes tax bills for the prior five years and has no money and i already paid my taxes but i thought that's what married people do.
Well we were divorced in 2002 ! Go Figure Huh!
I went on with my same job of 6 years and bought my own home started a small business
and he is still doing the music thing and actually has done rather well.
Every year since 2002 the Irs has stolen my measly little tax returns to pay the bill under ss number of the Ex . Although he claims he has paid them up in full and owes them nothing .
This year my job burnt down putting me in a very bad way . I have given back my home and shut down my business after 8 years i could not afford to pay for everything with the loss of my job, i earn on a client basis lots of clients after 15 years until there is a fire.
No biggie start over regroup.
I really needed my little tax return this year to put some money back recover a little.
I spoke to my ex he said there is no debt with the IRS , I paid everything ... I refinanced my house they payed all my back taxes before i could even see a check blah blah R U SURE ?
I explained , I cannot afford this any more I have lost everything and I am in no mood to give money away .
I personally call the IRS before I file to insure that i would receive my money that there where no problems.
The IRS lied to me , they assured me that i owed them nothing , they could not explain why i paid the bill solely year after year but i owed nothing ! OKAY !
I file my return and as usual I receive the F YOU letter that my $1500. plus tax return would be adjusted to pay a balance on tax year 2001 . But I will be receiving the remaining $12.00 lef over after satisfying this left over debt for SS# NOT MINE
Then the IRS agent says to me WOW that's funny .... HUH they left you $12.00 out of your $1500.00 return to satisfy this debt but this says there is still a $780.00 balance on this tax year why would they leave you $12.00 !!!! Yeah lady real funny !
She then tells me No I'm going to fix this I am taking this off you and putting this balance on Eric only..... Yeah okay what ? Thank you that makes me feel better.
They do not even understand or know what to tell me ? UGH
The IRS reps that i have spoken with are either totally clueless as to what ,why ,how ? But they are always sorry because they do not understand any more than i do !! K
Every time i talk to someone over there they make it up as they go and lie over and over. No one can explain why in 6 years he has never been made to pay any of this debt or why the assured me over and over R U SURE...! .. NO MA HAM.... YOU DO NOT HAVE A BILL CURRENTLY WITH THE IRS !YOU DO NOT OWE US ANYTHING UNLESS YOU OWE FOR 2008 .. NO, I'M ALL GOOD ! I AM DUE A REFUND LIKE THE LAST 5 YEARS .
I think they will screw me every year for this if i do not fight back.
I should have been advised by our hippie accountant that at 22 he was setting me up for a nightmare and these IRS professionals should have advised me over the years on how to protect myself.
I'm Pissed and I want my money back , they lied to me and they stole from me again.
I do not think innocent spouse will work because they already got my money .
Do you think eqiutable relief is an option for me is there any option ?
As petty as this is , I really want my money back .
Hey maybe Obamah can help me , I fit in that (help me) demographic now..... Nah... I still earn too much money and work way too hard for them .
Thank you for your time , I very much appreciate it.
I am sorry that I am not being very lady like , Man the IRS .... UGH !!

I was willing to help until you tried to make a political statement.

I will.

You need a tax attorney. I wish it was possible to go against the "man" without counsel, but the IRS is a strange bird.

I really couldn't follow most of that, but I am guessing you have paid several years on a debt you didn't owe.

Get a tax professional experienced in collections, however be advised that any reputable one who can put a stop to this is going to cost a few hundred MINIMUM.

Regarding the non-rant portion of the post, until you see something IN WRITING from the IRS that says otherwise, you owe the money and should expect to have to do with that reality accordingly.
