IRS: Exception to Expiration of Statute ?

What is the name of your state? MA
Hi,
Back in 1990 I left the US to go to work and live in France. Since that date I owe the IRS back taxes. I think the date of assessment was 1994.
Does the fact that I have not filled any US tax return since then can extend the 10-year collection period?

Being out of the country suspends the running of the collection statute.
