Jackson Hewitt holding stimulus checks.

What is the name of your state? Alabama
Jackson Hewitt is holding my economic stimulus check until June 6. Are they allowed to do this? I filed my taxes with them this year. Already received my federal refund back in Feb. and I had Jackson Hewitt deduct my fees from that. I should have received my stimulus on May 8 according to my social.

You will receive your check based on the MAILING schedule, not the direct deposit schedule. Jackson Hewitt is not holding it.

It was to my understanding that if you filed with Jackson Hewitt or HR Block and got
a rapid refund then you would not get your stimulu check through them. The IRS will
mail you a paper check according to your SS#. Even if you had your check direct deposited, as the IRS would not have that information. Hope this helps.

I probably know what happened:

When you use any of the bank products from an JH or H&R, etc., the bank's routing number and bank account numbers get entered in where you fill in the info for direct deposit. You when in an got your money from the bank; the IRS sends the tax return to the bank. Well, here come the stimulus checks. Guess where they got sent? The routing number/bank account numbers that were on the tax returns.

So, the banks are having to send the money out now as they receive them.

You will get a paper check if you filied with Turbo Tax/ HR Block (or any of those kind of places) AND had your filing fees taken out of your refund. The IRS said the money you get is called an RAC ( Refund Anticipated Check) and that an RAC is an agreement between you and a bank. The bank gives you money before the IRS give the bank money (like a loan).

Where's My Stimulus Payment tracker:

Try that out and see if it tells you when you might be getting your check.

Good Luck!

That makes sense Ginny, but that's not what the IRS is doing. The routing numbers for rapid refunds all begin with RAL. Any refund with an RAL routing number is having the rebate sent by mail to the taxpayers. Therefore no, Jackson Hewitt is not holding the OP's rebate.
