What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina

We are a 501(c)(3) K9 search and rescue organization. A trainer would like to donate a fully-trained dog to our unit as a tax deduction. If the unit accepted the dog, could the team member (all volunteers) who would be working this dog pay for all the dog's expenses (food, vet, etc.) or would the organization need to reimburse him for all those expenses, as the dog would be listed on our inventory as a unit "asset"?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

That's a bit complicated and someone would have to know a lot more about your organization and how it works before they could give you a definitive answer.

I would recommend a consult with a tax professional who specializes in not for profit organizations.
