The statute of limitations on collections is 10 years from the date of the deficiency.

The IRS has 3 years from the due date of a timely filed return to send a letter of deficiency.

They have two years from the date of last payment to send out a deficiency, if the return was filed late.

If a return was not filed, there is no statute of limitations on collections or anything else.
