Lottery winnings taxed in Germany?

North Carolina

If a US citizen living and working in Germany (the "tax home") wins a 7-figure US lottery, will the winnings be taxed in both countries? If so, what's a ballpark estimate of the percentage you will end up paying?

US Law Only.

A US Citizen is subject to tax on worldwide income. Seven figures would put said taxpayer in the top US Bracket, which is currently about 35%.

We can't answer your question with regard to Germany. Some countries tax lottery winnings, some do not. Ask a German accountant.
