Marital Debt and garnishmentWhat is the name of your state? Ohio I had this question posed to me today, and even after searching the the IRS website, I can't seem to find the answer. A couple is divorced ... wife is court ordered to pay half of credit card debt ... her paychecks are garnished for this (22.6% of her wages) ... she wants to know if the IRS can also take her return to pay off this marital debt. Can they? |
