| | | Missouri 3 year statute of limitation, is tax refund lost in all cases? 1. Received a refund but due to a filing mistake, it should have been more.
2. Filed to correct this just over 3 years later, then received a letter stating they've corrected the return and 'yes you should have received a bigger refund but due to the Missouri 3 year statute of limitations, you can't get it any more.'
Is there any way to apply this extra money to future taxes, etc. or make any use out of it or is it lost, period.

The IRS gives you three tax years (4 if you file before 4/15) but most state regs allow less. |

| | | Wait, what's this about four years?
I filed the 2001 return before April 15, 2002.
Four years gives me time, right? It's March 30, 2006 today.
This is about state, not Federal taxes. Missouri IRS told me there is no way to do this, so I'd be interested in finding out what you meant by 'four years.' |
