My Boss Gave Me A 1099!!!!!!! HELP!

What is the name of your state? Florida

Ok... I get paid a yearly salary from my company. When I first started they had told me in place of a 401K... Our boss gave us nice bonuses (Xmas) at the end of the year.
When I first started I got bonuses around 5,000. It was great... after taxes I would walk away with about 3,000 or so.

This year... I got a bonus of $500! WHAT??!!! I was furious.... when I was hired I was promised a substantial bonus in place of other benefits most companies offer.

Anyways.... to make matters worse I got this bonus check for a measly $500 dollars in December and just a few days ago my boss hands me a 1099. I didn't even know this bonus was being 1099ed. In previous years the taxes had been taken care of.

This just doesn't seem right. Isn't there some law out there that says salary employees should not be 1099? Shouldn't he have let me know I was supposed to take taxes out... instead of letting me think it was all mine to keep?

Any advice?????What is the name of your state?

it was improper to give you a 1099 for a bonus. You will need to ask for a corrected W-2.
