Need help with filing taxes for income earned in NY and FL?

What is the name of your state? FL

I moved from NY(New York) to Florida(FL) in 2007. NY has state taxes where I stayed for a while, FL does not. How do I go about filing them? My income in NY was less than 5K for the while I stayed there and for FL about 15K. I am single and my parents do not claim me anymore so in a way I am doing this for the first time myself. Can I use tools like TurboTax http://turbotax.intuit.com or Free filing on IRS site for Federal and on NY state tax such as http://www.tax.state.ny.us/elf/free_efil... ?

I was told I could use some help which libraries provide to people like me or some college accounting students who are trained?

Can someone please clarify what would be the proper way?
Yes, I could use a Tax CPA, but was informed it would be about 200 and it is fairly easy to do it.
Thanks

Even if "fairly easy", apprerently you can't. Multi-state and residence issues can be hard. Pay the man the money. Sorry.

I agree, they can absolutely be hard, particularly when NY is one of the states involved. Our firm considers NY state taxes to be the hardest of all states to do properly.
