What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? California. I am an independant contractor, a real estate agent. It was a strange year! While I did work, just not as much as I should have, I did NOT close any deals. Which means I did not make any money, although do have deductions. Can I still claim the deductions? HELP!

Yes. You file a schedule C as usual & calculate if you have a net operating loss. If you do, you can carry it back 2 years or forward 20 years until you use it. I suggest you see a pro, as calculating an NOL is complicated.
