What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? mn

I recieved a wavier because I was missing a 1099 form and, when I filled out the amened form it correctly stated I owe 750 dollars. The Irs wants 2176.00 Yet thier notice states the deficiency is 750.00. They aren't allowing me to use any of my credits or taxes already paid. They refuse to change the amount? What shoudl I do. Should I file a offer in compromise using the doubt to liability clause? I can't pay the 2176.00 I am having a major surgery soon and I won't be able to work.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Take this to an Enrolled Agent. You haven't given us enough info to answer you. Every H&R Block office has an Enrolled Agent who can help explain your options.

Hopefully this is the first IRS notice you received, and not the third or fourth.

DON'T even deal with the IRS directly, especially if you have other major things to worry about. Follow Snipes advice and hand it off to a specialist, albeit someone who actually shows an interest, not just one who is getting paid to fill out forms.

I changed Federal Tax ID's numbers midyear due to incoporation of my company and the IRS is in the midst of a tizzy fest. They can't figure out how to apply my P/R tax deposits. On one acct they say I owe $2500 and on another acct they say I have a $2500 credit. These are fictitous numbers but you get the idea. Several phone calls, letters and documentation ensue. Then I get a refund check on one acct for $25 and a notice on the other acct that I now owe $11. So as of now, I'm coming out $14 ahead. But you can believe I'm still holding that check til I see what the IRS comes up with next. I'm currently waiting to hand it off to my trusted CPA if I hear anymore. In the beginning I thought I could handle it myself. The IRS is proving me wrong.

Good luck.
