How long does the IRS keep records of old returns?
Does the IRS audit a return filed 15 years ago?

It would be very unusual for the IRS to audit a return that old. Unless the IRS has valid reason to suspect fraud, the IRS cannot go back that far.

They might have the return stored in their computer disk files, but it's probably too much trouble for them to try to retrieve it.

I have information in the old returns the IRS may want to see.
