What is the name of your state? Ohio

I lived and earned income in the State of Michigan for 5 days in 2004, and the remainder of the year in Ohio.

My annual salary is about $48,000.

My W-2 states that I earned over $28,000 in Michigan.

Again, I worked in Michigan for 5 days. I wish I made $28,000 a week, but I don't.

Does this sound right to anyone? How long, if there is an error, does an employer have to correct the W-2 and get it back to me?

Yes, they do have to correct it. Just call them and explain the problem, they should issue you a corrected W-2, and also send a copy to the IRS.
