Prelminary IRS audit

What is the name of your state? New York

Durring a preliminary IRS audit are Stenographers ever present?

There has never been one there during any IRS audit that I have attended. I have attended both individual and business audits. However I suppose its possible that for one reason or another either the taxpayer or the IRS would elect to have one present.

If you wish to have one, you need to notify the IRS ahead of time, and preferably in writing.
