What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? I am looking for home care for my sister. Two members of her church are interested in the job. What is the tax and legal responsibility if we hire someone privately?

It will be necessary to pay them a wage with proper withholding for at least social security and medicare taxes. I recommend using a payroll service. It is economical and ensures that everything is done properly.
