Question

Probate Tax?

What is the name of your state? Texas
My mom died without a will, and her estate is worth about $225,000. How much of that will go to probate tax?

What is a "probate tax?"

If you mean estate/inheritance tax and your estimate is right and your mother lived in Texas, then there should be no estate or inheritance tax, federal or state.

There will be probate attorney fees, which will take a portion of the estate. Maybe that is what the OP thought was a tax.
