What is the name of your state?I live in upstate NY. I'm a flooring installer, so I have w-2's , and 1099's, as well as a 1099g from unemployment. My girlfriend and her son have lived with me for the entire year, and I've paid all the bills. She did work for a few months at the begginning of the year and again for a month in the summer. I'm trying to figure out the most beneficial way for us to go about our taxes(who should claim who and what credits to get) any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Both of you take all your paperwork in, and go see the same tax professional at the same time. They can help you maximize your refund. It's probably worth what it will cost for both returns.
